Fine binding can be a means to express oneself and to interpret the contents of the book your own way. It can also simply be the donning of new clothes onto a cherished book — albeit with style. Bringing color, texture and surprise to a book can be accomplished with leather, parchment, wood, shagreen and other exotic materials. Those, used in combination with gold, palladium or blind tooling, can bring out the design in a handsome and elegant manner. Unusual binding structures such as accordions, exposed sewings and many other variations can be combined to bring forth a truly unique binding. This type of binding is usually relegated to a "one-of-a-kind" situation, but it is also possible to produce a small edition in this manner.
